Is it worth taking a poppy with a future perspective?

Hello. The idea is this. Now I work as a JS developer and at work I use Ubuntu on an old laptop from Lenovo. In principle, enough (if you do not pay attention to freezes sometimes). Now I'm thinking about buying a Macbook pro 15 2017.
The question is. Does it make sense to take a poppy in principle? I want a Mac precisely because I want to start writing in Swift and, in principle, compile applications for iOS / macOS. So options like "Take the top one from Asus" are not particularly suitable) Now, when working on a local computer, 4+ different databases + servers on NodeJS are simultaneously launched. I wish the Mac could handle it all + IDE + Chrome with 15+ tabs + Slack and all. Therefore, I want to take exactly 15 inches, so that there is 16GB of RAM and there is a decent margin.
Who uses a poppy, tell me. Does it make sense now or is it better to wait for a new generation? What's the best way to do it?

To take or not to take is up to you. But I'll just tell you about myself, I have a macbook pro 13 2014: 8gb ram, intel core i5, intel iris 1536mb. I always have chrome 40-60 tabs running, telegram, phpstorm, slack (sometimes), skype (sometimes), mail (mail client), photoshop cc. Sometimes the memory is very critically small, but all the same, during the period that I use the memory always remained and nothing bad happened, it happens when there is little memory, it warms up, but still it's mere trifles. And I generally keep quiet about ease of use, this is the best laptop I have ever used. the touchpad is the best in the world, the keyboard is also on top, the screen is a fucking masterpiece, and the new poppies are still worse.
I will take if something new, then a new macbook. I didn’t see a more convenient macOS, and I didn’t see the device itself, how it was assembled, either, this touch, this screen, this case. You can talk about it forever)))
And you are talking about 16GB RAM right away, this should be enough for the eyes

if you want, take it. but only because you want it.

Does it make sense now or is it better to wait for a new generation?
And then something newer?
And then the next generation?
Where is the logic?

If you want to write in swift, there are no options here. Take it.
And here is a bit of my experience:
I worked a lot on a poppy, incl. applications (but hybrid - cordova), now switched to Windows (after 4 years of poppy, because of the disgusting apple policy and idiotic things like touchbar) and I somehow just like it (if I have a 17" asus with a ryzen 5 desktop processor and 16gb of memory is a hell of a machine.) My profile is fullstack (php, ruby) + ionic/cordova. I use Win 10 + WSL in my work and am wildly glad to leave the poppy.

As someone who has been working on a Mac for the past 5 years, I would say that it is worth getting a new Mac. I used to work on Linux and Windows, there is something to compare.
Typically, hardware on a Mac gets old in about 5 years, or even more.
Mac for web developer this is it.
Well, things like a high-quality retina screen, the correct display of fonts, a normal console and just stable work relax a little.
New Apple crafts like the touchbar don't impress me either. I do not advise.
My profile is mostly web: JS, TS, PHP, Go, but I don't disdain Ruby, Python, C++.
In general, take a MacBook Pro, 16+ GB RAM, 512+ GB SSD, with a retina and a regular keyboard.
And if possible, better take a 27" iMac with Retina, you won't find better technology.
By the way, Windows feels great on Apple hardware, you can make yourself a Dual Boot and use both OSes alternately.

Hackintosh - no problem!
7 years ago I assembled a machine with suitable hardware, for 25 tyr., And I still don’t know any problems. The only thing that needs to be changed is vidyuhu, tk. the current one is not friendly with Blender3D.
