I plan to start promoting my site, I bought hosting and registered a domain name. But I suddenly discovered that with an almost identical domain (the only difference is that I have the ru domain zone, and he has .com) there is a fairly large site on the English-speaking Internet, which, apparently, has been there for a long time. Our topics are very similar, we create almost the same content, but not without differences and in different languages.
Should I promote the site under the chosen domain name, or is it better to register a new, more unique one?

If in different languages, then it doesn’t matter for the search engine. The main thing is to consult on trademark rights in the form of writing a domain, it is possible that your site will be able to overcome the “big player”.
