Is it worth it to transfer to a specialized specialty?

Hello. I am a first year math student. fake. On the profile of mathematical methods in economics and finance. Is it worth it to transfer to software engineering within my department if I like programming and this field in general?
Entered the mat. because of the strong mathematical background of the faculty, but did not get into the desired direction - Software Engineering, fortunately, at least passed to his specialty. I can briefly describe its content takmatan of different varieties, the basics of programming in the form of C, a bunch of programming in 1C (senior courses), finance, economics.
I know the basics of C, Java. I think that knowledge in finance will come in handy if I get hooked on Java (is it still relevant in business logic?), but I have a feeling that I can miss a lot without getting a specialized programmer education (practice in IT companies, an interesting diploma, acquaintances) .
Your opinion is very interesting.

You will write a lot on the topic in java and you will not miss anything.
The main thing is not the faculty, but practice. In addition, no one forbids you to come to lectures to teachers who teach programmers in development

a lot of programming in 1C (senior courses)

what a sad story
For the banking / financial sector, your education + java. It's just a matter of what kind of company you want to be in.
In general, people who have 1C in their resumes, and those who don't, are pretty non-overlapping worlds. It is also important that experience in 1C will not be appreciated in international companies.
