Is it worth it to seriously study graphics libraries like SFML and OpenGL?
It's been over a year since the first question on a similar topic. I want to become a game developer. I have been successfully freelancing with unity, but recently the interest in it has slightly decreased. I would like to learn something new. The first time this thought came to me, I thought it was a great time to learn the ins and outs of writing games without using builder engines. I tried SFML, SDL (yes, this is not exactly what I need, but I wanted to try), MonoGame and it seems to work, but you need to write a lot (which seems to be not a problem), but at the same time it takes a long time. From this, the motivation to write some kind of game for yourself very quickly disappearsb and, accordingly, the desire to study lib disappears.

In fact, the entire market is based on Unity.
Not on Unity only games that need something special that Unity doesn't have, or that are many years old and weren't originally on Unity. Another option, like yours, is to try something different, unusual, up to writing your own engine. But for today (2019) and the next few years, it is unlikely that anyone will be able to surpass Unity, and loners have no chance at all.
The main reason why the whole world is switching to Unity is simplicity and the absence of obvious flaws. For a producer, this is an easy search for cheap shots. Even if a person does not know how, he can be trained, or rather, he himself can learn along the way. Well, a large choice in the labor market by itself. Therefore, the answer is: it is not worth
studying seriously .. Feel free to review for general development, but don't waste too much time.
