Is it worth doing a website redesign?

There is a site that is visited by ~ 1000-1500 visitors per day (80% of traffic from mobile devices) and which brings a good income for its attendance, everything works - the scheme is debugged.
There is a desire to change the design, work out usability and introduce several useful things - site search, top views for all time, for a month - is also a useful thing in my subject.

I am thinking about this decision because I wrote a site on my knee in 4-6 hours and did everything by eye and not even on a template.
The site occupies tops on almost all of its pages, in most cases top 3.

If I change the structure of the html markup, change some things in the design, can this negatively affect my positions? (in parallel, I want to optimize the download speed)
And can this positively affect the positions they take, where they are not good enough?

Would love to hear feedback on this, what would you do?
Thanks in advance for all replies.

If you implement a design change without degrading the site loading speed and changing the content structure, then most likely there will be no negative consequences.
But once you add some blocks, not only the speed can drop, but the relevance of the texts can also blur.

There are too few known in this equation and therefore it is not solvable at the moment.
Sorry.

Hey! If these are useful improvements, then this is always a plus.
For example, site loading speed and mobile friendliness.
But if you do everything in a new way, your users will get used to it for a long time, and there may even be a deterioration in behavioral factors, and this may affect positions and traffic later
