It is impossible to predict disk death. For the 3rd year, under the torrents, there is a dead (according to all the checkers) 250 GB disk. A brand new 750GB disk died after a few months for no apparent reason, being empty, stuck in a RAID in a hot-spare.
Back up important information, if the system is expensive, keep it on raid1. And do not think about such nonsense.
Can you give SMART data? And tell me how it is used.
According to the preliminary data of your hddscan, you can not rush to throw it out yet, but do not keep important data 100%. Use as a test, for example ...
You probably don’t need to throw it away, but yes, remove important information from it. I have a similar situation, I store archives on it, which are synchronized in parallel with dropbox.

Repeat the test under DOS. Winda could easily climb something useful to work on the disk.
And +1 to the suggestion to show smart.
and backups are generally useful. I have a system SSD periodically with a standard screw backup that goes to the HDD, from there to an external screw. everything critical still lives on the web
I would, frankly, be afraid to store anything significant on it. And using temporary storage for torrents is the cake.
PS: They are right about scanning with mhdd.
