Is it worth doing a RAID from an SSD?

We put a new server in the company, is there any point in ssd in raid?

Oh sure. SSD as well as hard can crumble (RAID 1), and will also give the advantage of RAID 0 in performance.
I am for RAID 10 in server configurations.

I have a friend who, in the best sense of the word, is a computer geek, a fanatic, a maniac in his field. A couple of years ago I asked him the same question. He tried to explain something to me why it would not work, but it sounded unconvincing. We stocked up with him beer, iron and started testing. I was only interested in RAID-0, tk. I needed maximum speed, not reliability. A colleague works as a "repairman", so he had a decent choice of iron at hand. 3 different controllers and configurations from 2 to 4 disks have been tried by us. The speed is practically the same as that of one of the disks. After my immense surprise, they assembled it on ordinary 2.5 format hard drives. With a configuration of 2 disks on the same controller, the speed increased to 190 percent of the speed of one disk. Three disks gave us about 270 percent of the speed of a single disk. 4 disks - 330-350% of the speed of one disk. I don’t remember the theoretical justification now, because. did not understand it even then. But the summary is as follows: assembling an SSD in a zero raid will not add speed to you, only reliability will decrease. Assembling SSDs in raids of a different level will ruin your disks much faster.

Depends on what problem you want to solve with it.

There is absolutely no point in bundling SSDs through an additional RAID controller when there are PCI-E SSDs out there that are much faster. And then there are new high-performance drives from the new Intel 3D-XPoint - Optane series, which are much faster and more productive than conventional flash memory.

Is it worth doing a RAID from an SSD?
Yes. Only the size of the data strip should not be set to the maximum (128KB by default), but 32KB or even 16KB (Intel recommendation).

Not everything is so simple.
But judging by this article as a whole, it makes sense.
