Is it safe to upload books to the Amazon cloud?

Is there such a thing on Amazon that books sent to the cloud are verified? That is, are the books sent to the reader checked for authenticity, for compliance with the license, if the book, say, was bought on Amazon and distributed over the Web?
And if there is no such thing now, then what about the near future, can this be introduced later?
