Is it reasonable to use Sun as a name for an Open Source project?

Will Oracle be outraged?

How will the target audience (programmers) react to this?

You think about how someone will search for your project in search engines.

I can’t speak for the entire audience, of course, but I would react extremely negatively.

I don’t know about Oracle, but I have a sharply negative attitude: you don’t need to use the name of a “deceased” company that left behind a good memory and many descendants of excellent, living projects.
ps: If
you want the word Sun in the name of the project, use better, something like: “Son of Sun” (this concept, if desired, can also be associated with the ancient Incas :) )

Use Microsystems - no one will be offended ;0)
