Is it possible to use someone else's code?

If a developer puts his program on the Internet along with open source code, does this mean that I can use this code for my own commercial purposes?

Two options:

  1. The license to use the code is not specified. Then you need to contact the author of the code and settle the issue of using his code for your own purposes. Otherwise, you can meet in court.
  2. The license type is specified. Then you act strictly according to the points of the license, otherwise you also risk. If the type of license does not satisfy, then this can also be settled with the author of the code, agreeing on a license that is suitable for both of you. Some developers release code under dual licenses. If you have open source (even if commercial), then just use and open your code too. And if you want to close the code, then pay the author royalties for using the code.

Open source also has a license that specifies what is allowed and what is not.

It is necessary if the license allows. But mindlessly copy categorically no !!! Then bugs and vulnerabilities come out. Mess in my head.
