Is it possible to use both a switch and a router?

Good day. There was a stupid question. Now the Internet from the provider enters the apartment into the shield, in the same shield there are 3 more ethernet cords that stretch throughout the apartment. Because the shield is closed, the signal is quite bad, and the speed is cut (xiaomi router). I wanted to make a switch - all 4 cables (provider and apartment cables) into it, put a router in the room at one end. But I don’t understand how, for example, in such a switch (tyts) to make one be van, the rest lan.

In your case, it’s more logical to leave the router in the shield, put all the wires into it, and already in the room just install an access point to distribute a wi-fi signal.

There is no concept of lan and van on the switch, just plug the cord from the switch into the van port of the router

If it is not clear how to make one Van and the others lan, then their connectors have plastic either of a different color, or Lan, wan is signed on the case, or inside the firmware, you will need to select which port is which. Give the model of the router (access point) to understand the situation.

Are there any obstacles in order to remove your Xiaomi router from the shield, extend the wire from the provider, pull all the other wires from the shield back to the apartment (office, what do you have there) and lead to a new router installation point? If not, then this is the best choice for you. No mythical switches-routers-access points and other incredible equipment. If your Xiaomi router cannot be removed from the shield, then turn off Wi-Fi on it, and, as Sergey says , install another "Xiaomi router" in the room (TP-Link, Mikrotik, whatever your heart desires). Connect it instead of one of the computers to the yellow port, or the one where you have cords stretching around the apartment, set up Wi-Fi on it, but turn off DHCP and turn everything off on the "connection" tab. And connect the previously disconnected computer with a short cable to the yellow port of the second "router". Now your devices will receive the Internet from the one in the shield, and the second "router" will take care of the Wi-Fi, which will become an access point. No switch needed
