Is it possible to use a simple PC computer as a server and use the Centos OS?

We don't have a server, but we have a personal computer. Can this computer be used as a server and OS Centos? We will install Moodle there. Students 3000 people.

The server differs from a regular computer only in that its performance should be sufficient to perform the tasks assigned to it :) If you had an HP ML350G5 (a real server with two xeons :) ) - it would hardly suit you.
If you have enough power - install and work :)
