Is it possible to use a rangefinder with a laser pointer and a camera?
Greetings!
I want to make my own laser rangefinder, at a distance of 5 to, let's say, 30 centimeters.
I thought to use a laser pointer and a camera (webcam)
, the principle of operation in short: the
camera shoots constantly at a predetermined frequency of 24 frames per second,
we blink the laser at a certain frequency,
process the frame, calculate how much the frequency of the spot on the camera differs from that specified for the laser.
At the moment, I have implemented the detection of the presence of a laser spot in the frame,
I can blink the laser at a given frequency,
and em got up.
Tell me, please, is there any idea at all? I'm sure I'm not the first, what is this method called and maybe there is already an implementation?
What resolution can I end up with (my target is 1mm )?
What to use from formulas?
