Is it possible to use a catalog template for search output?

If the search result template is the same as the catalog item template, is there any way to use the "catalog.section" template for the "search.page" page? The template is complex, with a bunch of checks and markup, I would not want to just duplicate it.

If you display only products in the search, then this should help. In fact, inside this component is the search component and catalog.section
The only thing is that the products will be displayed sorted without regard to relevance.
