Is it possible to upgrade CPU for Asus M2N-X Plus motherboard?

Dear community,
I have a desktop PC with Asus M2N-X Plus socket AM2+ motherboard and AMD Phenom X3 8450 CPU. I have an idea to replace the CPU with AMD Phenom II X4. Can anyone suggest if this is possible?
- On the one hand, the sockets are compatible. Phenom II is the latest series of CPUs with socket AM2+ as far as I understand. Of course, they have long been hopelessly outdated, and the top processors of this series are quite cheap, which is why the idea of an upgrade arose in order to get the most out of this machine. Since the board is not described as "AM3 Ready", I don't risk buying an AM3 socket processor (although theoretically an AM3 processor should fit an AM2+ socket).
- On the other hand, the page on the manufacturer's website www.cnet.com/products/asus-m2n-x-plus-motherboard-...does not list the Phenom II as a compatible processor. But she doesn’t mention Phenom either, and it has been working for more than a year. In addition, for some reason it says that the socket is AM2, although AM2+ is indicated in the documentation for the board.
- www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/M2N-X_PLUS.html#cs says the board is Phenom compatible. But he doesn't talk about Phenom II.
From here it is not clear whether it is worth ordering Phenom II, or leave this idea and not revive a dead horse? Thank you.

@Altaisoft

If you have a 2 x 4 hair dryer on an am2 + socket, then you can easily change
