Is it possible to set up a surveillance camera so that it takes pictures of people passing by?

Good afternoon!

There is a task: to select and configure an autonomous surveillance camera so that it reacts to movement, takes pictures of people passing in the frame (at least 800x600) and puts these pictures on a memory card.

Autonomy is important so that you can quickly hang the camera anywhere without connecting to a computer, network, or power.

Help with the camera model (cheap china is possible) and with the necessary software.

Thanks in advance!

I have not yet seen a single ip-camera with support for sd-cards that does not support the required functionality. Even in the segment of household cheap cameras.

I'm afraid that for that kind of money, even the Chinese will be very difficult to find at least something with a resolution greater than 640x480, in general.

Very similar to a car recorder. They have a function to start recording when moving in the frame.

Yes, in fact, many webcams come with similar software. Screw Raspberry and the problem is solved. Or do you need a ready-made solution bought-> delivered?

Try Ivideon, they have a motion detector in the server. They often PR on Habré. Haven't tried it myself, but good reviews from friends. Up to some cameras for free.
The truth is no longer a stand alone solution, but all the same.

A cheap camera just won't work, because its noise will not allow you to identify people well. If the figure of a person in the frame occupies less than half of the vertical, then only an HD camera is needed, otherwise the faces cannot be disassembled at all. Of the free software, the best is Yawcam. But all free programs catch movement in a primitive way, for example, if somewhere the branches on a tree sway from the wind or the sun comes out of the clouds - all this is caught as “movement” in the frame.

It seems to me that in most cheap cameras with a motion sensor there is an option to save video as pictures, I did it on a cheap length.
902 or 920 model seemed to be.
