Is it possible to run macbook 2018 a1990 with battery disconnected?
Good afternoon. Now I live far from civilization and was forced to order a battery instead of a swollen one. After the replacement, charging is not performed, and indeed the computer is dead, but there is no visual damage. A normal tool was used, a plastic spatula was used to remove the cables.
The service said that the battery may be defective and you need to turn it off and check it, but it is already glued and this causes a problem. Also, the problem is that I'm not sure that without a battery connected, voltage can be applied.
Actually, I ask you to answer this question, is it safe to apply voltage with the battery disconnected and can there really be a problem in it?

If you connect the laptop to a UPS or through a surge protector, then it's safe. If without them, then with a voltage drop you will tell the gland of Datvidania. Because battery and power controller and filtering
You can start a macbook without a battery, just disconnect the battery connector, which is screwed on a small board with a large 1m bolt and a small cable. In my opinion, it turns on simply by plugging in the charging cable and pressing the power button ...
But most likely it was not the battery that died, the USB-C controllers were covered. I had exactly this problem. The MacBook either charges or not, the first time it passed out - it was charging, everything seemed to be OK, but it just ran out to 0 ... So far, a little advice to try to reanimate it. I would not turn off the battery for now, but I tried to find a weaker PSU, perhaps from some kind of android wat at 15-30.
When I had a problem with the usb-c chip, the macbook worked fine from usb-c 15W, it did not cut down and did not discharge if it was not loaded. And with his native PSU, he either didn’t work at all, or after a while he was allowed to (when he lay down for a couple of days), he charged for about 30 minutes and charging disappeared again ... If the symptoms are similar, then it’s definitely a usb-c controller!
