Is it possible to restore whatsapp chats if they weren't saved to backup storage manually?

Whatsapp was accidentally deleted from my phone. After the reinstallation, the correspondence was not restored, although the documentation says that the application automatically saves the correspondence for the last 7 days. Also, after authorization by phone number, the user is prompted to restore the backup copy of the data if it is found on the phone. In this case, such a window did not appear, the list of contacts immediately opened. Does this mean that nothing has been saved to the backup storage and that the correspondence can no longer be restored?
