Is it possible to recognize several characters at once using an artificial neural network?
I looked on the Internet for several examples of how ANN recognizes characters, but there they only describe the recognition of one character. And I didn’t find anything about a few symbols standing next to each other. For example, I wanted the network to recognize the value from the LCD 7-segment display.

Isn't it easier to first segment the image, break it into separate pictures with one number, and then recognize them separately? For such a display, segmentation is just geometry, most likely.
