Is it possible to put memory of different frequency and volume on iMac?

I have 4 slots for DDR4 in my iMac, instead of the standard 2x 4GB 2400Mhz I installed 2x 16GB 3200Mhz, there are 2 empty slots left, there is nowhere to put the old memory and I decided to stick it back to the new 32GB as well, the total should be 40GB. But will there be conflicts between different frequencies? And also, as far as I know, the 2-channel mode will not work because of the strips of different volumes. But if suddenly everything is fine with this, does it matter how to arrange all 4 bars? 2 strips were initially inserted into the 1st and 3rd slots, the new memory was placed in the same slots. Those. if you put old slats, do you need to insert them through 1 slot or do you need to be strictly side by side?
