Is it possible to make the client machine work simultaneously through the OpenVPN server and, as usual, through the nearest machine looking at the Internet?

Is it possible to make the client machine work simultaneously through the OpenVPN server (for example, surfing) and, as usual, through the nearest machine looking at the Internet (for example, for toys)? If so, in which direction to dig?

Yes, of course it is possible, if only surfing is necessary through VPN, set up a simple proxy server on a neighboring machine, throw routes from it using VPN to the client on which you are going to surf, drive proxy into the browser, and surf,
leave the default route for toys and everything other nonsense. If you need help, write to

Apparently, I do not understand something, or I asked the question incorrectly.
If you raise an OpenVPN connection (like handles, through NetworkManager, for Debian), then absolutely all packets go through the VPN server. So right?
At the same time, it is critical for me to work with other clients of the VPN server, to look at the Internet through the VPN server, but some applications must look at the Internet through the nearest gateway (that is, through the provider).
If you raise a proxy on the server, then when the VPN connection is raised, everything will still go through the VPN, right?

prescribe routes.
for example, 192.168.0/16 locale, .1 - regular gate to tyrnet.
10/24 - vpn network with such and such servers, respectively, we write routes to the necessary game/file/ftp/mail/web servers.
the rest by default will run through a regular gateway.
