Is it possible to make a “root” for chroot in proftpd with sql authorization?

Hello!
A bit of a strange question, maybe it's impossible :)
The bottom line is, there is a common directory for uploading, for example, public. And in this directory there are subdirectories for each user.
Is it possible to make it so that in the database (I remind you, sql authorization), in the field "home directory" just store "vasya", but at the same time chroot the user in public / vasya?
"petya", respectively, will go to public/petya.
Is it possible to do this or not?
