Is it possible to import the JDK into a Java application on MacOS?

I wrote an application in Java. To prevent the user from installing the JDK, I simply put it in a folder next to my application. Everything works fine on windows. Can this be done on OS X? Or will the JDK have to be installed separately?

OSX suggests installing it from their servers on first run.
