Is it possible to establish a p2p connection between two hosts behind NAT using tinc?

Previously, I used hamachi, which uses its intermediate server and technology like UDP hole punching to establish a p2p connection between two nodes located behind NAT. However, hamachi is not satisfied with the fact that the free version does not have the ability to run the client as a service.
Of all the options, I decided to try tinc. But the question immediately arose: can he organize a VPN between two hosts with gray IPs that are behind NAT? Those. does tinc have an intermediate node through which both my nodes can establish a p2p connection?

If you have both computers behind NAT, then you need a third host to establish a connection, but traffic between computers will go directly.

Mmm, maybe I don’t understand something at night, but what’s the problem with installing openvpn on both gray machines, and making your own server as an intermediate point, which now costs a penny?
