Is it possible to embed a link to the developer?

If I develop a turnkey site for a little man, can I leave a link to myself, the developer, in the footer of the site (for example)? Especially if I do not officially work, that is, not an individual entrepreneur ....

Linking to yourself is advertising. Advertising is an attraction of additional income. And generating income costs money. Therefore, the link is included in the cost of development.
Relatively speaking, it costs 10,000 rubles to create a website. We put a link. Which will probably bring more orders, we also hang the site in our portfolio, which will also bring orders.
If the client does not want a link, then we add 10-20% of the base price to the cost. Then a site without a link will cost 12,000 rubles. The site, which the customer wants not to shine in your portfolio, also costs more, by the same 10-20%. That is, a site without a link and not shown in the portfolio already costs 14,000 rubles. Because you will not receive the profit that you include in the price of development, taking into account your advertising (link + portfolio).
All major web studios stipulate this separately in contracts. That the link must be there and they have the right to place it in the portfolio. And the client, under the contract. without the consent of the studio, has no right to remove the link. He must pay for the removal.

Well, it seems to me quite possible, designers usually write their own studio there, etc. It also depends on how the owner will look at it.
If not officially and the site was not for 100k, then that's okay too. But if the income is large, then IP is worth doing.

depends purely on the agreements of the customer,
for example, Lebedev says this is written in the contract and, in principle, you can’t place it
