Is it possible to dynamically change the color of an SVG icon depending on the background color?

There is a long page with images of different "lightness" (lightness, color and bw), there is a black (and white) SVG icon - is it possible to show a black or white icon when scrolling, depending on the lightness of the background image (or recolor one with some way) to achieve contrast?
