In the new Adobe Illustrator CC 2017, this problem is solved, select the object and press ctrl + or ctrl-
As an analogue, you can save several Views and switch between them.

I usually group the selected objects, freely overlap the artboard, double click on the group - the artboard is pressed against the group frame, CTRL + 0 / CTRL + 1 - voila.
