Is it possible to disable raid temporarily?

ASRock z77 pro4 (built-in controller) + 2 hdd wd 1 tb black (raid 1).
The disks are very noisy, is it possible to simply pull out the power cable from them and live without them, and turn them on when necessary. Will there be consequences for such use?

everything will be fine, unless your system is configured to write swaps and other system files to them
