Is it possible to disable microphone auto-tuning programs in linux?

Skype 5.5 increases the microphone volume during a call (so that the interlocutor hears a growl instead of a voice) and there are no settings to turn it off. Maybe in the configs you can fix something?

Turn off the corresponding service, and edit the configs by hand.
