Is it possible to build in alarm functionality so that notifications come in the form of an alarm signal? Or Apple doesn't let you do that. If real, how? I can't google

Yes, but this alarm clock will work using push notifications - a specific thing that requires the user to do something. Well, there will be a problem with sounds when alarms go off, there you won’t be able to take any sound, only pre-loaded into the application bundle with a duration of up to 30 seconds.
