Is it possible to create a website that improves itself?

Is there an example of code that modifies itself (improves)? And how realistic is it to create such a site that would complete itself and make new functionality for itself?

This is already Artificial Intelligence, and humanity has not yet created it.
Yes, and it is not necessary, in all films the result of this is the same.

Can. See Wikipedia - the site improves itself. :)

Without specifics, like a horse in a vacuum. If we are talking about a code that from the console hello world will "improve / modify" itself to GTA 5, then no, there are none and there will be no real strong AI until the advent. If we are talking about smaller changes, then maybe, see evnuh 's answer , a correctly set algorithm can "improve" its characteristics (quality of work, for example) by orders of magnitude. The example is not simple, but just realizing the genetic "development" of the program by the program itself, I described in my article (sources are on github).

Since my previous answer was appealed and deleted, I will answer more broadly. Your question is incorrect. Improvement, refinement and completion of the functionality is a task that does not fulfill the requirements of the agoritma. She has an infinite number of development options. For example, the number of all possible chess games is finite. It is huge, but of course, even then there is no supercomputer that would shortchange it. If there is a more specific setting, you can raise the issue of AI, but for now this is a task for telepaths, and they are, as always, on vacation.
