Is it possible to create a smooth transition between blocks?

Greetings. I'll go straight to the point. On the attached image: the block with tangerines is a picture of a smart object placed in a rectangle using a clipping mask, the block with green onions is the same. Question: is it possible to create a smooth transition between them? If so, how? I will be very grateful for the answers!

Smooth no. Well, I don't know what you mean by that term.
You can determine which image will be "higher" on the other and cut out the shape, for example, oranges. As if they were lying on a bow (or some kind of grass?).
