Is it possible to combine a designer and a front-end developer?
It so happened that I made up, programmed yii2, laravel on backend frameworks. I haven't been seriously involved in design, but I have mastered illustrator, photoshop, after effects and read books from the bureau. Between the choice of serious programming and more design, the latter is closer to me. It’s just that I don’t draw logos, icons, I tried it, but it’s not for me. I can draw a design, I can think over ux, and, in principle, serious exclusive work, so that everything is drawn uniquely, is rarely worth it.
Is it possible to combine design, layout and design in general. And if you need some unique ones drawn by a designer, then work with someone in a pair, who is more creative in artistic terms, but less technically versed. I have a sense of beauty, it’s just that I don’t have a hand in drawing ...
I understand that the question is from the category, so try and draw a conclusion. But just wondering how things work out in the real world. I ask because I did a couple of projects for myself and went through the stages of a designer, programming and a person who comes up with an idea. Of course, that is still in the process of learning, but the advice is just interesting.

These are different areas. You will look in different directions - everything will be through a well-known place
Really. In design, two things are important: to have taste and be able to draw, plus to know Photoshop. Everything, if it is - you are a designer.
To be honest, this is certainly wrong. But sometimes there is no other way/exit.
In large, well, not very large, but self-respecting companies, these positions are, of course, separate. But by the way, the basics of both are often required in each of these positions.
ps. I just have the current position combined, so I have some experience)
I think it's possible. To do this, I have two examples:
1. I was taken as a frontend, because I have a good portfolio of sites designed and made by me, I can give design recommendations (UX / UI) and have a good understanding of how it all works. That is, with good front-end skills, I’m also good at design
2. I saw vacancies in companies like Yandex (or maybe there was Yandex, I don’t remember exactly), where not cool front-enders were really needed, but front-enders with a bias in design
Didn't find what you were looking for?
