Is it possible to connect phpBB and Wordpress core?

Hello.
Trying to pair phpbb with wordpress core to get 100% of the features and functionality available from within WP for tighter CMS integration. But unfortunately, just including wp-load.php gives an error (cannot redeclare make_clickable). It is clear that some functions overlap. But the question is - is it possible to make such integration by another method? If so, how, does anyone have experience? I'm thinking about CURL, but this solution can hardly be called a good one.

I tell you a secret: you don't need it. You will never use 100% of the functionality of either the first or the second, if only for the reason that part of this functionality is purely internal.
