Is it possible to connect a monitor with 2k to a FullHD laptop and work like on two monitors?
I have an old laptop 1366 by 768, paired with a Full HD monitor, you can only turn on one screen. Maybe because the laptop is old. Is it necessary to have the same resolution?

not necessary. it all depends on the capabilities of the video card of the laptop.

It's all about the video card, I don't think that your manufacturer was counting on connecting two monitors, or even more monitors.
