Is it possible to connect a LAN client to the master-port?

Question for users of the MikroTik router. If I create a switch from ether2-ether4 ports specifying ether2 as the master port, can I plug the client into ether2 or should this port remain free?

Here is the master port from the point of view of an observer: as if you have a switch connected to the master port, and physical ports are already connected to it, including the master itself.

Can. The port may be busy to use.
Another interesting thing is that the master port link on the CSR will always be lit, whether there is a cable there or not.
This is generally done by default with default settings on many models.
However, I want to note that this behavior will soon be changed. In the new firmware, now 6.41RC3 they are moving away from understanding the master-port And everything will be done through the bridge, which will work in hardware. Those first created bridge will work at the switch chip level. They will also change the logic of the VLAN.

Also, always look at the block diagram on the Mikrotik website before buying or planning. It will help you understand how traffic will pass through the hardware inside.
