Is it possible to connect a 3.5 HDD to a laptop directly?

Is it possible to connect a 3.5 HDD to a laptop directly? NOT as an external drive, but through a SATA extension cable directly to the laptop's SATA connector. Or how can I connect to the laptop so that she sees it as a local disk?

3.5 They require 12 volts, and in a laptop they can only be taken from the battery. Therefore, nothing is normal, only a collective farm.

As I understand it, there is a laptop, the native HDD died, there is a non-native 3.5 "HDD, most likely, the battery of the laptop also died. There is no reason to spend money on restoring the laptop, so as not to work on it as if it were a stationary one. Do I understand correctly?
Then it is quite possible to attach a 3.5 "HDD to it on a wire and supply 12V power to this HDD from a separate PSU. And it's better - to apply from the same external PSU and 12V, and 5V. Powered up the HDD - turned on the laptop. Turned off the laptop - removed the power from the HDD. What will happen to this HDD when it is powered by only 5 volts from the laptop, then only 12 volts from an external PSU - HZ.

As mentioned above, a 3.5 "drive needs 12V power. Therefore, it will require a separate power supply. Dancing with a tambourine on the topic of turning it on / off is superfluous IMHO. The only difficulty is that the laptop has 2 connectors nearby - SATA and power And in this case, you need to use external power, and SATA laptop through an extension cord.
