Is it possible to combine vps and shared hosting?
Good day!
As the site was promoted, DDoS attacks became more frequent and shared hosting began to block the account. I realized that I needed to do something, but the catch is that, out of stupidity and greed, I replenished the balance for a year, and they have no withdrawal of funds.
I want to purchase a vps, but use it only as a dedicated ip, i.e. physically leave the site on the hosting, specify IP VPS in the A-record. Is it possible to implement?
If not, then the second option is to organize ROUND ROBIN (hosting ip and vps). At least the load is evenly distributed. But of course the first option would be much more preferable...

Yes, it is possible, for example, you can install HAProxy on the VPS, which will distribute traffic between the shared and VPS and / or direct traffic to be processed by the VPS if the shared is down.
RoundRobin DNS is also a good option
What about the meaning? Can you imagine what to do with this virtual machine so that the traffic does not flow into the shared?
If yes, then nginx, proxy_pass and read the documentation on how to filter requests of the nature you need.
