Is it possible to build a backend node js project with webpack and will it work?

I am a front-end developer, I just recently started to learn the backend node js platform and since I don’t really rummage around in it, I heard that a project can be built in the backend using webpack. Well, with the frontend, of course, you set up webpack, it assembles into one js file, can you really assemble it with the backend and how will it work?
