Is it possible to beat the vendor lock?
there is a tired ibm disk, there is a generic analogue from seagate. raid controller won't accept disk due to firmware.
Does it make sense to try to change the drive boards? If this is not strictly prohibited, can I somehow reset the smart counters to their original values so that the raid controller accepts it?
Is there a way to flash generic firmware from ibm?
