Is it possible in Windows to completely reinstall spooler?

Recently, on one of the PCs in the workgroup, all sorts of difficulties with printing are constantly arising. Starting from freezes when trying to print to a specific printer, ending with the requirement to completely restart the print spooler service. When the print dies completely, I completely demolish the spooler folder. System: Windows XP Professional SP2. Upgrading to SP3 is not possible, since the PC is used as a 1C server, not counting the night when access to the office is categorically not provided. If you upgrade to SP3, we put the server's performance at risk, and there will be no time to recover, the solution, perhaps, would be IP-KVM, but it is not.
Microsoft FixIt requires SP3.
Perhaps someone knows how the spooler works? Perhaps there are some actions, such as: clear the folder, clear the registry (specifics are needed here). Next, I would connect the printers, reboot, put write protection on the files in the spooler and registry branches. Does anyone have experience or understanding?

Start - Printers and Faxes - "File" - "Server Properties". Go to the "Drivers" tab and remove all installed ones. Go to the ports tab and delete all ports starting with "TS"
Then delete the registry branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler
Next, the above
net stop spooler
del C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* /f /q
net start spooler
Just before the start, I would also go through the files and registry with ccleaner
Now go back to "Server Properties" - "Drivers" and install the plug-in drivers printers
From experience, I can also add that printer drivers must be the latest versions from the manufacturer's website. Also for HP, in the case of working with 1C, it is better to use PCL5
PS: But still, I would install updates. Server 1C feels great on the third service pack :)
“Upgrading to SP3, we put the server’s performance at risk” - and not updating, we expose it to the risk of infection and a bunch of problems that have been resolved a long time ago.
PS2: And about FixIt, should there be a “Self-solving the problem” below or not? And follow the steps indicated in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324757/en

Cap suggests that you might have one of the many viruses that use spoolsv for camouflage.

Open the "Printers" ("Printers and Faxes" on Windows XP)
Delete all of the printers
Click "File" and choose "Server Properties"
Select the "Drivers" tab and remove all entries
Stop "Print Spooler"
Navigate to "%systemroot %/system32/spool/printers" and delete any files there
Navigate to "%systemroot%/system32/spool/drivers/w32x86"
Delete all of the files and sub-folders in each of the 2 and 3 folders, but not the folders themselves
Start "Print Spooler"

A cursory search in Habrahabr gives this:
net stop spooler
del C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* /f /q
net start spooler

Well, it’s useless to advise the Windows admin to reboot) It didn’t help, I returned the registry back. Nothing illegal there anyway, just the path to the spooler executable.

Explorer freezes after installing the latest printer driver (epson t50). Explorer freezes after adding a printer from the network.
