The piece of iron has DHCP, immediately gives out the address, the laptop sees it - this is convenient. For example, a new router at the facility, when a connection to the provider has not yet been configured on it. I would like to remotely connect to this laptop, but when you connect the wire, the Wi-Fi connection automatically turns off. I tried Windows policies according to the instructions of the Internet - it does not help, perhaps they simply stopped working in new releases of Windows.
Also, Windows 10 ignores metrics, in foreign guides they say "I stopped respecting metrics." Those. there is no difference if you put "999" metric on Ethernet and "1" on Wi-Fi

What does "go out" mean? the adapter is physically disconnected? the network interface attached to it is logically disconnected? Try to use more sane terms, you are a technical specialist.

Not only the address, but a handful of other parameters, including the default gateway. In this case, the existing one immediately receives an increase in the metric and ceases to be used.
There is only one solution - after connecting the cable, remove both default routes from the routing table and re-add only the one you need. Run every time after unplugging/plugging/rebooting.
