Is it dangerous to use exFAT on an external HDD?

An external HDD was bought to store personal photos and videos, it would be logical to format it in HFS + since it will be mainly used with poppies, but in view of the fact that the user's paths are inscrutable, I wanted to format it in exFAT, but I read on the Internet that then and you won't be able to breathe on the hard drive:
"ExFAT will corrupt if you even think about unplugging without ejecting, or touching the drive while it's in use"
Maybe HFS+ is better out of harm's way?

For HDD, it doesn't matter what FS it will have.
ExFAT will corrupt if you even think about unplugging without ejecting, or touching the drive while it's in use
And as for the safety of your data - what do you want from an unjournaled file system? This is true for any non-journaled file system. The same can be said about HFS + if you turn off the log.

without a backup, you have a 50/50 chance that the external drive will work regardless of anything, it either works and your photos are there, or it doesn’t work and they are no longer there.
