Is it better to use a USB HDD or a SATA 2.5" HDD with a USB adapter for a NAS?

The question is in the subject. I'm going to make a NAS on Raspberry Pi 3, put all the equipment into a mini-tower. Doubts plague. On the one hand, if necessary, internal SATA HDDs can be made external over time by placing them in boxes. On the other hand, in a NAS, hard drives will be connected via USB, which is not native to them. I can not decide.

It is better to take regular sata drives. As they let go , they will go to a normal NAS. The last external usb hdd that I came across had a usb-sata controller right on board, you can’t turn them into ordinary sata drives without a soldering iron.
