Is it advisable to replace the I7-950 with a modern model?

Hello.
At the moment I have an intel core I7-950 . During its release, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th generations have appeared.
Is it worth it to replace the current processor with a newer one (I7 series only)?
Criteria for evaluation

  • Price comparable to i7-950 ($300-400)
  • Performance increase of at least 50%

Criteria with no value
  • Integrated video core performance
  • power usage

Thanks

I believe it is advisable. 230% performance boost at $380.

True, we must not forget about replacing other hardware compatible with the new processor, at least the motherboard.

Everything depends on the tasks. If you have a lack of performance, then you can think about replacing it.
From my own experience, I didn’t even notice a difference between i5 and i7.

Have you already run into a processor on your tasks or a replacement for the sake of a replacement? There will be no performance increase of 50%, the increase will be 20 percent, and then only on certain tasks, the rest is decided by the number of cores, and not the generation of the processor.

Performance increase of at least 50%

Come back that way in 5 years.
There are no more competitors in the top segment, Intel is marking time.
Unless to move to Xeon. In desktop motherboards, they usually work, but for quite sane money they have more cores.

Are you joking? With today's exchange rate, this is oh, how not advisable, plus ddr4 is already on the horizon, if you buy it now, then at least you will need to change the mother. So you can be patient. For example, i3 of the first generation is enough for me.
