Is it advisable to cut Bitrix?

Specifically, you need to do the following, in the registration form you need to add a field in which the user will enter the company in which he works and below he must select from the list of positions. And based on the information he entered, some news on the site will be visible to him, and some will not be shown to him, some can edit the news, and some can not.
Those. the user turns out at registration to itself selects group. Can this be done on Bitrix? and most importantly, is it expedient from the point of view of its architecture?
Yes, and I’ll say right away that I didn’t take a single Bitrix course at all. For now, I want to find out what can be done on Bitrix and what should not be done, what to decide whether to spend time on training or not.

Yes, this is possible.
I do not see anything that would break the product architecture

It is elementary done, both through standard user groups and through a custom component, i.e. all within the developer's standard.
naturally, it means the number of groups 10-20, if you need more, then obviously you need a different approach
