Is DO Droplet security the same as regular shared hosting?

Can you please tell me how secure the droplets are on DigitalOcean?

It’s somehow scary that this is a full-fledged, albeit virtual, server, given that I’m also a complete zero in Linux.

Do I need the initial intervention of an IT specialist if I only need a standard LAMP for the site, or is everything there by default about the same as in regular shared hosting?

DigitalOcean gives you a virtual private server. Initially there is nothing on it. You are responsible for the security of your server. And the security there can be significantly lower than on shared hosting if you:
1. Made a mistake in the configuration (for example, when setting up a web server)
2. Didn't bother with SSH keys
3. Don't update the software
4. Use dubious solutions
5. etc .
On shared hosting, everything is usually fine and sites break only because of the curvature of the sites themselves.
So your site will not protect anything if it is a leaky trough. And through it, shells can already spread to the server if the latter is configured incorrectly.

As answered earlier, it is better to hire someone who can.
If you want it yourself, then there are a bunch of articles on the topic, for example, here . Google and learn LInux administration. It won't be fast.

@thexaver

they are normally protected, if you do not know how to administer, use outsourcing.
