Is being a website developer unprofitable?

Various sources say that the development time of a website can reach one or even two months, and payment in many cases does not exceed 10,000 - 15,000 rubles, which is quite modest these days. I must be wearing rose colored glasses. Should I take them off? Does web development make sense? I'm drawn to this area, but...

God, I've been sitting on the toaster for 2 years now, but I haven't logged in for half a year, but the top question list will not change like that.
Alya wants to become "insert your profession" - I'm an ideological person, I love this profession, but somehow I don't have the millions that that man promised me in the courses. And there are only landing pages for 500, which are made with edits for a month (((
And you look like there are a lot of developers - but there is no one to work, and why - yes, everything is simple because the market is crowded with people from courses who are ready to work for 500r but don’t really know how to do anything. And why such conclusions? Yes, everyone just comes more than once - how much does X project cost, you say X₽ and X days, and the answer is - oooh no, Vasya won me there in a day and will do 500r, well, okay, go. Two weeks later, the same person comes and says, well, here Vasily did everything - but then a few edits (there are more edits than the site's technical specifications), and you can finish it for 500 rubles. Or an example that I know in skill boxing studied for six months, as far as I know, training there is not cheap, and the result asked him to make up a landingos (there was no time itself) so he can’t prescribe the date attribute (real story).
And why this sheet of text? And besides, if you really know how to do something, then you will not work for 10k / 2 months

The market is already oversaturated with offers, and the demand is only for good specialists with extensive experience.
Guru-shitcoders continue to earn good money on this with their courses "Make another garbage dump, on the next constructor in an hour." Actually, these are the stuffing of the weak on the market. They will not have time to find out what "hello world" is, but they are already trying to pull orders from the exchanges.

Only if by developing a website you mean laying out a landing page according to a ready-made layout or putting on a free WordPress template. A real development can cost millions.

Due to advertisements of constructs and "premium" templates for the next wordpress site, many "experienced" people got the impression that creating a site is just a matter of moving the mouse across the screen. Yes, some may be lucky and their landing will really be made cheaper through wix, but the rest will pay twice and hire a normal person, or they will drag on with their project from Vasyan (well, because it’s cheaper), in which already at the stage of creating the first page there are restrictions from cms, template, constructor (Vasyan will not edit plugins, adjust and write something new, exclusively ready-made nulled components)

it is beneficial to be anyone if you are a professional in your field. And if you are not a professional or you are not going to become one, then first of all, do not go for your own good,
and if in specifics, then system and mobile coding naturally coexist with the web with a much higher entry threshold and unit cost of work time

The web development market is not just overcrowded, it's over-over-over-crowded. If you want to compete with the Indians for a pack of doshik - well, good, work :)

Everywhere so! If you came from all sorts of pseudo-teachers, then you should not count on large earnings) Personally, I have been programming since I was 13, I'm 21. The main stack is of course web (php, nodeJS, react, sass), but at the same time, I know go, pyhton , c#. And in addition to all of the above, I also devote 10 hours a day to work. That's why I have 140k. There are guys with knowledge above mine and earn 40k. The main skill is to sell your knowledge)

Good afternoon Alexander, It is
better to look for yourself at the intersection of technologies. As a rule, this leads to a good result. What is a site? This is a method of communication and the goals of creating a site are different for different customers. You can take any topic. For example sites for prisons. or sites for kindergartens. Everywhere has its own specifics, who should communicate with whom and for what ... We studied this specifics + learned the technology for the production of the actual product - go ahead. Online stores are more of the same type, but there are already massive standard solutions. In general, if you move into IT, then think about specialization - what is IT? This will be a long term move.

Well, I work in a web studio. I touch a dozen projects a month. Any improvements to existing sites.
We are also working on new websites. The development of new ones takes more than two months, it can take a year. But the budgets are certainly not 10k.
And here and there something is sawn. A penny here, a penny there.
As a result, a staff of almost twenty people is maintained.
Is it profitable? Well, no one gets millions, but the salary is above average.

It is beneficial, because there is copy-paste, and the needs, except for design (and even it) are of the same type. Unique functionality is a separate issue, it always duplicates other solutions, even being supposedly unique. In 99% of cases, the difference is only in texts, layout, design, and that's it. Having experience (for copy-paste), you can make at least 30 websites a month (this is what they do on any exchanges for a bowl of food ... "specialists"). You can put a price tag, but you will need a portfolio, think about where to get it from.

A good and highly paid developer (be it Vasya or Karl) is the one who has the necessary development skills and knows how to sell his skills. If they value themselves for 10-15k / 1-2 months, then cheap specialists who do not know how to manage their resources and such specialists are worthless. Hence the conclusion: in any glasses in the dark, all cats are gray.

Development terms for different tasks/projects can be from half an hour to several years, and taking into account the constant development of the project, while it is alive. Payment can be from 0 to tens of thousands of dollars per month. Everything is very relative. The question is not in technology, the market and the profession, but in your place in all this.

Where did you see these prices? On Freelance ru or what? They often offer projects for food. But it shouldn't even be considered.
