iPod classic. Out of order HDD?
Hello. My friend's player is broken. There are suspicions that due to the fact that for a long time it was with the wallet, where the magnetic latch is. The player has not been physically injured.
How it all started: at first it crashed, then demanded to reinstall the system via iTunes. When reinstalling the player hung and began to rattle. Now it is being scanned by HDD Regenerator. 130 bad sectors per 36MB.
A player from America ...
Has anyone come across a similar one? Please advise what to do.

Still, as an option, there are adapters for them IDE -> SD. Buy an adapter + SD card.
Replace HDD, obviously. You can immediately shove an SSD - it becomes much more pleasant.
iPod Classic has several modifications. There is an IDE with a ZIF interface of 1.8 "and a power supply of 500mV. Something similar to the HDD for the first MacBook Air, only the laptop has a limit of 400mV. Otherwise it will not start. We found external HDDs from Transcend with a size of 1.8", The disc is taken out of the box and placed in the iPod. The price is about 6000 rubles. Here is a link to the model: goo.gl/PjRY8
Problem solved =)
As it turned out - despite the fact that the player was purchased through Amazon - the so-called " Apple World Warranty " is valid for a year, according to the rules of which - if the device is "white" and the warranty year has not yet expired - then any a service center in any country is OBLIGED to carry out warranty service for the device (if it is certified by Apple, of course). So a friend successfully handed over the device and now within 30 days he will be provided with a new player.
I hope someone will come in handy =) Thanks for the advice!
