"Internet from within. Ecosystem of the global network" a reference book for a novice engineer?

In general, while walking through the bookstore, I came across the book indicated above. Judging by the reviews, the book covers the main aspects of www, but the price bites too much. The question is, has anyone read this stuff? And what would be the recommendations for handbooks for a network engineer?

Bought as a result CCNA Tutorial by Todd Laemmle

What exactly are you interested in? The industry is hefty and you can’t explicitly cram it into 223 pages, except perhaps very superficially.
